TIME BETWEEN WORLDS WITH KIMI WERNER

Above water, champion free diver and spearfisher Kimi Werner treads at a fast pace between

her career, motherhood, and the never-ending obligations both require. Under the water, Kimi

lets the ocean teach her the importance of slowing down and living in the moment.

Time is something Kimi Werner, like most of us, knows is both a precious and fleeting thing. As

an adventurer, mother, and career person, the art of balancing is an extreme sport for the

Hawaiian native. And the pressure to constantly do is real. But spending so much of her time

with the ocean has taught Kimi that more rewarding than the need to do is the beauty to just be.

When we first met Kimi last year, we were blown away by the caliber of commitment her unique

lifestyle demanded. She dives some of Hawaii’s most daunting spots. Without any breathing

gear. She spearfishes to sustain her family and teaches others how to do the same. She’s a

certified culinary chef and award winning artist. She travels the world to give speeches on her

experiences. She loves, lives and breathes being a mother to her son, Buddy. And she’s

dedicated to living sustainably.

We immediately knew we wanted to bring her on as a partner, as we were starting to wake up

to the possibilities of being a more environmentally responsible brand. And, no question, she

was simply a badass who lived out our brand motto: to live life on your own terms.

It was also no question that we wanted Kimi and her story to be the heartbeat behind our latest

Ocean Plastic dive watch release. Built to live between both land and water, this watch has a

lot in common with Kimi. So in April of 2022, we sent a small group from the MVMT team to

spend time with Kimi in her community of Waialua, O’ahu, an isolated seaside village in the

North Shore region of Honolulu, Hawaii, to see what the watch would look like within her daily

routine. We’re excited to share that story here. And can’t thank Kimi enough for sharing her time

with us.

From day one as a watch brand, we’ve explored some pretty big questions: What does it mean

to make the most of our time? And what does it look like to use that time to live life authentically

and fulfillingly? Kimi answers these questions just by being, both above and under the water.
